This wood is AMAZING! It’s a top made of ambrosia maple, and the colors and holes are due to the activity of ambrosia beetles. Google it! The back is beautiful swamp ash, and this body should make a wonderful guitar. Andy bought it at last week’s guitar show, and is understandably really excited about the possibilities.
Last night was the start of the project. The shop gods were smiling, and we got perfect ferrule holes drilled in the back. On to sanding and finishing. When the wood is this beautiful dry, imagine how great it will look with finish!
Much more to follow as this instrument comes together.
